My 516 is a pretty sweet rifle. It's the only sig I've ever owned to I can't comment on the sig quality not being what it once was. I just know my 516 is bad ***

Nothing wrong with a 556---probablly the most durable 556 you will ever
own. Like an AK it will last forever! Pete

Though the SIG 556 is a front heavy rifle, it shoots great- so each his own. You'll have to decide for yourself if its the rifle for you. I like mine & haven't regretted its purchase.

No Really Sig556 is a POS when it comes to accuracy (3 MOA @ 100 yds), but that said, it's the best and most expensive AK47 you will ever own

A 3 MOA grouping still fits inside a human skull

I don't know, there was a thread on here last week about a $2k+ AK

Good point---it also will shoot any type 556 ammo without choking. Pete

The 556 is from Sig/Sauer USA. Not much Swiss about it other than one of the SIG board members in Switzerland is also on the Sig/Sauer USA board of directors.
Any of the truly top of the line American made ARs is going to match and trump the performance of the Sig/USA 556.
If you were talking about a 550 or 551 in semi-auto it might be different, but the truth is that many current American made ARs in 5.56 are already sub-moa rifles right out of the box and for less money. Made in the USA, there's nothing magic about the 556.
                  IMNSHO, of course!

This is the one reason I love my Sig 556. I can shoot the dirtiest wolf/brownbear/tula ammo through it an not have to clean a damn thing except a couple brushes over the piston with a dry brush.

As long as I stick with shooting steel plates and not try to put groups on paper, I avoid dissapointments in the accuracy area. If I need to compete with friends, I'll pick a different gun and shoot better ammo.

Pass on it. The word SIG means nothing with this rifle. Its nothing more than a marketing tool.

Having owned my Sig 556 for a while, I finally took it out last weekend. Once the Eotech was adjusted, I had a hard time not hitting the black at 100 yards. Most of my experience/training is in handguns and I had little experience in rifles so I was pleasantly surprised at my ability to hit what I was pointing at. Enjoy your Sig.

Not so bad surprisingly. Just need a small screwdriver to adjust, can only adjust elevation only. Just make sure if you run optics + magnifier, there's clearance to flip the micro sight.

I get 1.5 groups with my 556 using hornady steel cased ammo. Mine seems to like the heaver bullet. Mine had canted sights but can't tell now Because I swapped to a Troy rail and sights. So for those that say the accuracy is lacking I would disagree.
