What are some people's personal experience on the Bushmaster ACR? They seem to be a little easier to find than the SCAR 16, so I want to keep my options open. I have read various posting that they are not as good and one salesman really "dogged" it. Hopefully people with personal experience can post their thought and if they have any personal comparison to the SCAR16.

Most of the people who "dog" it just don't like excessive polymer, like the entire lower receiver on that rifle. -
I've shot the ACR and SCAR and IMHO they are both great rifles, I would recommend you shoot both to see what you're preference is. As for accuracy, it all depends on the shooter/optics/sites on that one. the ACR had some bad press on some quality issues, but the one's i've shot haven't had any issues as to mentioned to what some people (and a search) says on here and other sites.
as for the SCAR that is sweet and not alot of people have complains about them.

out of the box the SCAR is the more accurate shooter, check out Sturmgewehrs comparison on Youtube if you want details. The California Moderate Centrist Militia member in exile

I've sold ACR over the SCAR about 2 to one... and I even offer prospective buyers a chance to meet at the range and try them both out.
MOST shooters can subscribe better to the ergonomics and cool breakdown and cleaning of the ACR. The SCAR, yes is adopted by SOCOM... but who are you kidding- you're a civilian living in CA- you're not SOCOM. The proce is close enough, the ACR comes fromt he box a little heavy, with the right mods, you can return it to the "Masada" configuration- cures the weight and balance issues.
Reliability is excellent woth both- in my experence also--- the ACR eats up Wolf ammo- the SCAR chokes on it. That amounts to a 50% savings on the ammo you feed you gun.
Fact is, most folks, when copmparing them side by side AT THE RANGE (not on a video game or on youtube) tend to prefer of the ACR. I even had one guy who had the SCAR show up, try my ACR and tell me he had some regrets about getting the FN. And he is a hightly experenced and qualified rifleman.
Both have their liabilites and strengths- Lets put it this way- if you get the SCAR, meet me anywhere for a head-to-head- winner keeps both rifles... I'll pit my ACR against any SCAR.Comment

i thought they were all recalled?
I find this ridiculous actually. The ACR uses more or less the same FCG and a AR, and shrubmaster still manages to screw that up? What does that say about your company? The California Moderate Centrist Militia member in exile

Never shot one but think they are great rifles...
But I am one of the haters just because of how everyone and their mother HAD to have one because they were the new cool thing.
And I dont like the price tags on them. too much for my taste.Comment

I was originally going to go with the ACR, but the type I wanted was the Enhanced Version which was quite a bit more. The 1:9 twist was a concern as I wanted 1:7. The stock and rail weren't really worth the additional 100's of dollars to me. That being said there are some excellent deals out there for used ACRs. I may even get one in the future.
First I have to receive my new SCAR!

I dunno. I think the Beretta ARX 160 looks more promising than the ACR ever did. Even before Shrubmaster took it over. It'll take me a while to save up my nickles and dimes to get one anyway, so the fact that they are going to take a few months to release them isn't really an issue for me.

There's a lot of ACR haters out there that have never shot or handled an ACR. Most feel betrayed by Magpul for selling out the "Masada" to Bushmaster/Remington group. It was initially "promised" at $1500, but Bushmaster released it closer to $2500 and somehow messed it up. Yes there was a recall on ACR's but that has been fixed. IMHO it is a better rifle than the SCAR not just for shooting charateristics but also for takedown and cleaning. The polymer lower is no different from polymer pistol lowers like Glock or M&P's, they are just as reliable and even more durable. Compare the rifles yourself and disregard the SOCOM kool aide. You may get some sneers at the range but I could give a rats azz about that. I actually own an ACR, I just hope they release the 6.8 and 7.62 barrel conversion kits sometime in my lifetime
