    Irvington Arms

Hey all, I am located in the north bay and keep hearing a lot of you talk about Irvington Arms in Fremont. Well I am trying to decide if it is worth the 2 hour drive to go down and check them out.

Just wondering if you that have visited irvington arms can tell me what type of stuff the usually have in stock. I know of plenty of local shops that stock your normal stuff but I keep hearing that Irvington is very pro AR15, AK, FAL, and such. Do they usually have these type of rifles on the shelves or are they mostly special order? Pretty much if I make the trip will they have the rifles I just listed or is there inventory the normal Cali gun store inventory?

Visit their website (link above the calguns logo on this page) and give them a call.

      Call them 1st 510-226-7910.

Yes they do have lots of AR stuff and OLL stuff. Have not been there for a few weeks. Last time I was there they had plenty of Rock River Uppers, Stag\Dane AR OLL, U15 stocks, Monterman Grips, DPMS&RRA Lower parts kits, Bushmaster 10 round mags, tactical slings..etc.

They also get Siaga and other off list AKs. DROSed a Siaga 308 when they came in..

i was there this past friday. they were out of the 10 rd mags. and only had a few receivers. they sell out pretty quick on almost everything so your better off calling them and checking what they have stocked.

          Just in there

I was just over there. they had more stuff in stock than normal. a few uppers, lots of LPK's, stocks etc. had some saigas too. Usual assortment of handguns (maybe had a few more upper end 1911 types.) and the gun rack was full of stuff I would buy.
for PPT they are the best, all the other places are taking way tooo much time filling out non-required paperwork.

I did not look to see if any OLL's were in stock

I drove about 75 minutes down to those guys for AR stuff. They're pretty friendly and quick with filling out the paperwork. It makes it easier to stop by there if I'm already on that side of the hill. They sometimes have OLLs in stock, sometimes they all got snatched up. I'd give it a no-BS 50/50 chance they'll have it in stock. If they don't, they'll write your name down to save one for you when they do come in.

If you want to buy a complete RIFLE, that is, OLL AK or AR, then GO FOR IT!

Irvington Arms definitely rocks- they know the laws, provide SAGE advice, and are always a dream to deal with. I should know, as I've dealt with some "retarded" FFLs, and have had to deal with their screw ups, mental handicaps, and belligerant nature- and it's always cost me MORE in the end.

However, if you are a "creative" individual, and want to build your rifle from "scratch" (receiver), then there are cheaper options. Rodger's Relics will DROS you a receiver much cheaper than Irvington's (and they're great to deal with). However, you're really "on your own" when you deal with Rodger's...

PM me if you want some horror stories. I won't bash FFL's in a public forum, but have my share of horror stories of people to avoid. I have the receipts, and wasted time, to prove it.

              Cheers and happy OLL'ing!

True it is cheaper to send bare lowers and receivers thru Roger's Relics, but they will also gladly handle any complete rifles that are compliant as well. So you're not totally "on your own" IMHO. Now that I have a good relationship with them it is nice to just send out orders and call to alert them I am coming down for the DROS when the items are en route.

Lisa is great to deal with, no BS FFL. You call them up, give them a heads-up that your package is coming, call them up that you're on your way to DROS, fill up the form, leave and come back to pick it up. Fast, Friendly and Affordable

Oh and if you decide on using Roger's Relics as your transfer FFL, don't forget to give some loving to Bud and Amy (you'll know when you get there)

                    Ah, good point on Rodger's...

Yeah, you're not totally "on your own" when you deal with Rodger's Relics, in that they'll accept complete LEGAL rifles. However, Irvington Arms will help you "build up" the rifle of your dreams, and order it for you, if you are so inclined.

They're both top notch FFL's. I've bought from both and whole-heartedly recommend them. Classy, too!

I have purchased a complete AR lower and two receivers through Roger's Relics. Lisa is great to do business with and when I get my next guns guess who it will be through? Buddy and Amy are very nice also.

Thanks for all the help guys. I am especially in the market for a complete Cali legal AK47. Was looking into ordering a vector but thought I might check out what any local stores had first to avoid DROS charges. Heard a lot about Irvington on this forum and figured I would ask you all if they have complete AK's or if it would be a waste of time driving the two hours. Sounds like I will be making the trip to check out their AK selection.

I am going to call them later this week but has anybody been there recently that can give me an idea of what kind of complete AK selections hey have.

Thanks again for the info guys.

My drive there is just over an hour with a toll on the way home, but its an easy drive depending on when I make it.

I was in there this morning for a PTR receiver and DROS of my RPK clone, lots of AR stuff as others have said, I dont recall any AK style rifles on the racks, some old Milsurp, basic handguns, and lots of AR stuff.

Nice and friendly, no attitude, give it a shot

Have they been visited by CADOJ's special agent "Iggy"? They seem to be the only Bay Area FFL gun store that actually stock OLL stuff and advertise on their website. They must have very good lawyers.

Irvington Arms is great. I live close by and I now the owners. The owners get alot of Saiga's in but they sell fast. Just pick one up myself. They always get more. They know there stuff and will sit and shot the **** with you for hours.
