    AR Question

Took a carbine class today and ran about approx 400 runds thru my AR. I had no issues throughtout the day except towards the end of the day on a few mag changes. When the bolt locked back and I inserted a fresh mag and pressed the bolt catch, the round needed an assist to go into battery. A couple of times i had to rack the charging handle for the round to go into battery. Any thoughts out there? Thanks

I would guess it's getting hot and dirty by the end of a long day. Just like the rest of us we get grumpy.
During a break, mid day, you might try running a bore snake through the chamber. Also pull the BCG, wipe it down and re-lube it. 5 min. max.

In a pinch you can spray CLP directly on the bolt through the ejection port..

Hi temp wheel bearing grease on the carrier contact points next time.
My best WAG is the oil burned off. 400 rounds isn't very much to run before it gags.

I am trying this out on my AR and I like it so far:

This stuff stays put and my M&P 15 seems to like it. I've been using it on my HK USP9 off and on (trying mpro 7 lpx against it) but everytime I seem to like the slide guide better.

I use the light stuff. It might trap carbon in the grease but it actually cleans up pretty easy. I still use mpro7 to degrease it and it does a good job. CLP seems to just run out and get in the wrong places and it just seems to attract dirt. The grease stays put and makes the job of cleaning a little easier because I am not digging carbon soup out of the top of the receiver or wherever the CLP seems to have crept this time.

Oh and it runs like butter on the stuff. I've only tried Mpro LPX, Eezox, and regular break free and the "slide glide". But so far I like the slide glide the best. YMMV and I am no "operator" by any stretch.
