You'd be surprised who is standing and barking orders most of the time. Usually the guy with stripes or brass.

In any case, I find my amusement in the video because those in uniform could relate... there is nothing worse that getting shot at while getting stung by bees, taking cover in a ditch full of crap, finding your face in an anthill, or your buddy sending a knee into your crotch while you both try to occupy the same 4x4 space together.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

His guy almost got himself shot for not dropping down. Luckily the helmet cam guy was paying attention.

Ah so that is the rest of that video.
Someone posted one with a clip of the malfunction in it a few days ago.
That sucks that he had to switch to his GL as a primary lol.

Hope they were all okay. All weapons are prone to malfunction.

He switched to his GL because they called for him to do it. His M4 was operational. It was appropriate for the situation.

I see him slapping the magazine rather than doing the push pull. So it is possible the magazines just are not getting seated fully and are working themselves loose. He seemed to come to that conclusion himself while clearing his second failure to fire. Any semi-auto will malfunction if the magazine is not seated. He also could be topping off his magazines and not downloading by five. That is a very common cause of magazines not seating properly. I've seen the exact same thing happen to guys in training for that reason more times than I can count. Never saw combat myself, but if it CAN happen in training then Murphy's law says it WILL happen in combat. Could have had bad primers, any firearm will malfunction if you get bad ammo. Every time I got cheep and purchased military surplus ammo it was riddled with bad primers. Lots of little things can cause a failure to fire. None of it seems very M4 specific to me.

I have to say, the dude is pretty damn Ninja. Standing while others duck for cover, noob-tubing like it's COD, and running out into the middle of no-man's land to retrieve one his guy's lost grenades. He's got balls the size of a wrecking ball.

not to mention they are in the "sand box". weapons are dirty as all hell.

                        ^^^
You should have heard the laughs (and cursing) I did while retrieving a buddy's rifle that suddenly "walked away" from him in the sandbox. Needless to say, we now look back on it and laugh our a..es off every time. He is now my best friend.

I remember this when it came through the first time on this forum. It just shows how important leadership at the squad and platoon level can be. You gotta feel for the guy though.. Getting stung by all those bees in the middle of a firefight... Ouch!
