I took all these photos for the insurance company. They are Title II firearms and are prohibited here in CA.

      Nope.

Yup. You can get about 3 or 4 before everything starts to bind up. I've only heard of 2 or 3 guys that say that it works but I can't get it to work in any of mine. The guys on 68Forums say the same. Use dedicated mags for 6.8SPC.

My next if ever .308 will be a SOCOM, I already have a couple of .308's. I would like to step up on the AR-15 platform but I don't want to be stuck strictly reloading for it. I need to do some research but I really want a caliber that I wont have such a hard time finding ammo or mags.

        Thanks

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Incorrect. 6.8SPC magazines have an entirely different body and follower from the .223/5.56

          This.

The .458 SOCOM uses standard mags and can be loaded to very similar power levels as .45-70. You can do everything from low-recoil black powder equivalent shoulder-savers to thunderous rhino-killers. If you reload, .458 SOCOM can be very inexpensive since it shares the same HUGE RANGE of bullets as the .45-70, including casting your own from wheel weights.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

I'm a huge 6.5 Grendel fan but I wouldn't recommend it due to the scarcity of ammo. If you reload or don't mind paying a buck a shot or you don't mind waiting for fresh batches of ammo, then I would recommend 6.5.

You need to just get a .308 ar or a LMT MWS!

i would go with a 6.8 spc they seem to be a little more available than the 6.5 grendal.

Do what I'm doing. Buy yourself a reloading set up and learn the art of reloading so that availability of ammo and cost (of all your calibers) becomes a smaller issue. Then get yourself a 6.5 Grendel upper. It's such a sweet round IMHO.

There is also the issue of weight.

Stepping up to a 308 platform (AR10 or DPMS or anyone else) adds considerable weight. Staying inside the AR15 platform allows you to use some pretty heavy-hitting rounds while keeping overall weight down, something valuable to most hunters.

That's the point, I got an HK91 and M1A and they are boat anchors.
