So I have enough ar's and I was thinking about trying something different. I don't want to spend a fortune on a scar so the msar seems fun.I've read many positive things abut them as well.anyone have any advice? I'm looking at a site called guns4all to purchase one. I understand some do not use ar mags as well. Anyway any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Interested in an msar

The E4's are the newer models that accept AR mags. STG556's use the older proprietary mags, but are generally a few hundred dollars cheaper.
I would look at ratworx for anything MSAR. They are an MSAR master dealer and are very CA friendly. They will install the raddlock for you and if the law changes, or you move out of state you can send it back to have them remove it for you.
Here is their firearms page, but they seem to be out of stock with the 5.56mm model E4's.

You might have an underlying problem with yours, My E4 is not finicky at all and will eat through anything I throw at it. I love it and it's fun as hell to shoot, I actually like it a hell of a lot better than my AR's.Comment

I just went on the ratworx website and they don't even display any 556 msars. Also how much are those proprietary mags because the e4 is about 650 dollars more.I'd love to get an msar for under a grandJust a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

My Gen1 MSAR with no upgrades has never had a problem eating any ammo.
Call up Ratworx and ask. They are good people. $650 in mags is quite a lot of money to balance out the difference. Besides lets be honest, despite the abundance of AR mags, as far as rifles go they are some of the most fragile rifle mags. The mags are expensive but it would still take a good amount to reach that $650 difference, mags can be found for a little cheaper but here are the prices at Copes: http://www.copesdistributing.net/index.php?cPath=32_104
If that doesn't work use Gun Broker, tell them to send the receiver to your FFL and the rest of the parts to you. Offer to pay shipping for both packages and advise them to keep the high caps, I know that sucks but believe me, they are easier to convince if you tell them to keep the hi caps. The following sellers state they ship to CA:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=217481838 - he also has OD
There are other sellers, just email them and ask to ship to you. Be polite, explain the law, address the high caps, have the receiver shipped to the FFL, the rest to you, and most importantly, if they are not an FFL they don't have to worry about CFLC.Comment

Budsgunshop actually has msar mags cheaper than that. It would be cool to have some 42 round rebuilds too. I hear the balance on this thing if second to none so confirmation from you guys makes me want one even more.Just a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

My thought exactly, before I shelled out a bit more several months ago for the E4 and I'm glad I did. I had 20" MSAR on Gunbroker with the integral scope for $1050 with a guy willing to ship to CA. Didn't happen because I insisted he pay the $30 shipping. He walked away - his loss - and he still has the gun unsold on the site last time I looked a few weeks ago.
I talked to the guys at Ratworx and they talked me into it. The E4 has some significant upgrades over earlier generations. Now mind you not having shot, seen or handled any of the earlier models, I'm going off of what he said and what I've read. Besides taking AR mags, the E4 has a vastly improved bolt release and also more chrome-plated internals. The rail (it sits a lot lower) is really what sold me. It looks so much better than the earlier model railed gun which is much cheaper but looks like crap in my opinion. I also have many 30/10 AR mags laying around, so it made sense to me.
The gun is a sweet-firing beauty! When you first get it, you'll want to take it out every day, fondle it and put it back in the safe. At least that's what I did. Unbelievably easy to disassemble, clean and lube.
Buy one and get it from Ratworx.

Im looking at microtechs website and it seems theyre making conversions for the older stg series. I might get one and then upgrade it if I feel its necessary. maybe wait until the kit comes out to see if it would be more prudent to by the e4. idk its a tough decision.Just a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

I was originally going to purchase an MSAR before deciding to build my current ARs. I've always like the AUG's bullpup design and MSAR seems to be committed in refining their product."People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
