i was helping a fried put together his Ar and he bought a collapsible but stock and i thought i saw something about staking the castle nut if you are putting on a collapsible stock. but on all of the videos i am seeing i dont see any thing about that. is that something we need to do? thank you in advance.

It's often recommended to stake them but thousands of people don't, myself included. After using a punch/hammer to tighten it, it doesn't loosen.
