    Decisions Decisions

    Should i get a 16'' midlength

    complete spikes upper for a little less than $500
    or
    BCM upper $475 + BCM BCG and CH $135
    or
    LMT upper $450ish + BCM BCG $139 + DD CH $22

    Spikes=$500
    BCM=$620
    LMT=$611

    Is the BCM and LMT really worth the extra $120..?

      BCM makes great products. when it comes to guns, buy what you want. because you'll end up getting it later anyway!!! i think that anyone of those will work fine. i also think that the extra 120 is worth it.

        I've never heard or read about a complete upper by Spike failure. If you just plan on having fun plinking, hunting & target shooting, no need to buy parts that were designed for more heavy duty use. Save the money.
        But if you like the fact you can have a rifle that can stand up to some heavy useage, go with the higher end stuff

            all brands mention are decent, you can't go wrong on any of them, so my vote is for the least expensive... Spikes

              wich one looks cooler....I'd go with that one, preformance wise I doubt any difference.

                    My thoughts exactly. They are all quality uppers may as well go with the cheaper one

                      Any which way is good. I've got a Spike's upper that has never jammed/FTF/FTE.
                      It is the cheapest and when I bought it from AIM it got here and had a problem with the finish.
                      I called Spike's and they immediately issued me an RA to print out and ship back. They then UPS'd me the new upper, no questions asked.
                      They are great people.

                      Also, check out the RifleGear uppers.
                      RifleGear
                      For $600 you are essentially getting a Daniel Defense (high quality company) upper from the best gun shop in SoCal (in my opinion) and they back up everything they sell.
                      Check it out.

                        I've looked into the riflegear uppers I'd rather have a bcm or lmt if im gonna spend that much. Plus I try to stay away from ca vendors to avoid tax.
                        600+tax+ shipping is more like 685ish.
                        Usually you can find what you need out of state and free shipping

                          ATI Varmint Killer

                          Have any of you heard anything about the ATI Varmint Killer. I am looking to purchase my first entry level AR and I ran across this one. It has a .22 upper, and a mil spec lower that will accept any other upper up to 5.56. It only costs around $600. If I then get a .223 upper for around $600, I can have 2 guns for $1,200. If I buy an entry level .223 for around $1000 and then get a .22 upper (for plinking), I would be looking at over $1,400. Am I missing something here? Any thoughts.

                            You realize is California you legally have to pay tax on things you buy online/out of state, right?
                            It is called Use Tax.

                            But that aside, I try to go with CA vendors if I can (if it is within $30+/-) just out of principal.
                            But like I said, either way you'll do well.
