    Removing a staked castle nut

What is the easiest way to remove a staked castle nut without damaging the castle nut, buffer tube or the rifle itself? Any suggestions? Thanks

Put a lower block into your vise. Put the lower on the block. Remove castle nut with castle nut wrench. It only takes moderate force to break the stakes. If you don't have a lower block then put some soft jaws or some leather strips on your vise and put the lower in the vise, just don't overtighten. If you don't have a vise and a castle nut wrench then I would suggest you take it to a gunsmith.

I took off the castle nut by having two buddies hold it and i broke it loose with a castle nut wrench. This was a staking job on a factory m&p 15T.
