Does Anyone Own a Canted Saiga?

Got a 22" 308 off of Gunbroker and wouldn't you know it, the rear site block is canted at 11:55 instead of 12:00. I figured it would be a PITA to send it back and have to wait so I kept it. I own a canted Draco that shoots just fine but I expected more from a Saiga. Anyway, does anyone have experience shooting canted saigas? This was supposed to be my "Saiganov" project but now I'm thinking maybe not. Are there any AK experts that can explain how/if a crooked RSB can effect a guns accuracy? Thanks in advance!

Yup...its the only canted saiga that I've actually seen. I have four others that are perfect and all my friends who have purchased from the same online vendor have no problems. No other problems with it that I can see. Just wondering if anyone has had real accuracy problems shooting a canted one.

How do you measure the extent of a canted sight block? Do you use any tools or do you just judge it by plain sight?

I just looked down the gun paying attention to the position of the RSB and the rear of the receiver. When I imagine a clock, the end of the receiver is a line from 9 to 3 o'clock. The RSB is at 11:55 instead of 12:00. All my other saigas are at 12:00. It seems that the folks at the factory have compensated by adjusting the front sight post as the barrel sticks out more as compared to my other saigas.

Yup. I have a 16" 7.63x39 Saiga that has a canted RSB. Front sight was adjusted to far left just to shoot straight. I replaced my FSB to compensate (much easier to fix).

So it shot fine otherwise? No other issues other than cosmetic?

sorry about this necropost but I just got a canted sight saiga. I was pretty bummed cus its my third and only one that had this issue. At first I thought it was a milling issue with the RSB but upon close inspection, it is indeed put on crooked.

The rear sight was really canted to the left but about 3 or 4 degrees. Actually when I disassembled it, I found that the gas block and the FSB was a little off too to the other direction. I took a rubber mallet and bashed it WASR-style for awhile and was able to get it back on straight.

Has anyone else fixed their Saiga canted sights this way?

Its not that rare, nor a big deal unless it is detrimental to the function of the rifle which it rarely is.

The FSB on my Saiga 7.62x39 is pretty canted. I run an Eotech 553 on it, so don't really care much. Problem solved.

Pardon my french but what the (*&^$#&%*(^%(*&% is so hard about installing sights straight? Why would this be such a common, yet ridiculous problem? Imagine the hell to pay if an AR company installed a sight block wrong...

                        Bedpan Bandit,

I have it taken to a gunsmith and see if he can correct it unless you have it returned for another.
