    AR15 registered SBR lower question?

Ok say I own a registered SBR lower in Nevada and I have to move to California. Can I just bring the SBR lower into Ca. and mount a 16" or longer upper so its configured to the AWB laws of ca. (bullet button, 10 round mags etc etc...)

Am I breaking the law by just owning a registered SBR lower even though I dont own any SBR uppers? I would sell off the uppers before I moved as to not imply intent to construct. I cant construct an SBR if I dont own an SBR upper right?

I am guessing my only real option is to just leave to SBR lower in Nevada right? Can I even store it in a safe (in Ca.) and never use it?

I'm guessing you do not own any NFA items right? Any NFA registered lower doesn't cease to be an SBR just by changing the length of the BBL. You also need to file a form with BATFE to transport that NFA weapon across state lines. It will be a cold day in hell before you get permission to register a SBR here in CA. Good luck with that!

i cant answer your question about registered lower, but you wouldnt need to sell your SBR upper; simply build a pistol from a stripped lower and add a bullet button.

you could write to ATF and have them cancel the SBR registration on the lower after you reconfigured it back to title 1 status. you could then bring it ot CA without issue (complying with AW regs of course).

there is also an ATF letter floating around that says that if you install a 16+" barrel onto iit, you can transport it acrosss state lines without needing to comply with the ATF regs. The question becomes, what would CADOJ say about an SBR-registered lower in CA, even if it wasn't currently in an SBR config? We dunno.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
