    Daniel Defense Omega quad-rail

Hey guys so Im finishing up my first build and want to put a quad-rail on and have been eyeing the Omega 9 for my middy. I have only heard good things about this rail but I have also heard that you are partially paying for the name and there are other quad-rails just as good. Now from what Ive read the people who have one love them. But I wasn't sure if paying the $275 or so is worth it, or if there are other cheaper ones just as good. If it is a better QUALITY rail I have no problem paying the money I was just wondering what your guys' opinions were..Thank you

IMO DD has far superior quality products. You won't be disappointed with any of their quad rails trust me. One of the lightest and toughest. Also I want add they have top notch customer service.

I love my omega 9. Easy to install, great shape (its more oval instead of round). Pricey yes but you won't want another rail
The "best" handgun caliber debate rages on, meanwhile I just keep buying low recoil 00 buck.

What are your requirements for an aftermarket handguard? Back in 2008 - 2009 the Omega met MY requirements.

        1) The handguard shall not require the removal of any other component(s) aside from the original handguards.

        2) The handguard shall not require proprietary tools for installation.

        3) The handguard shall free float the barrel as I like to use my slings at times for support while shooting in the sitting and prone positions.

        4) The handguard shall have an integral QD swivel socket.

        5) The handguard shall have an advertised Slimmer profile than the KAC M4 RAS.

        6) The handguard shall have a lighter advertised weight than the KAC M4 RAS.

The Omega rail was the only one that met my requirements at the time. I was pleased enough with the Omega 7.0 that my midlength upper is wearing an Omega 9.0 handguard. Not sure if the quality is better than say LaRue, KAC, YHM, MI, etc., as I have not gone and actually measured to see if the rail is in specifications with MIL-STD-1913 nor do I care to do so.

My requirements might change soon to include an item that does not have all four sides covered with rails.

Its super narrow, easy to install, relatively light, and free floating. All without the need to remove your FSB.

Yea Jim the only specifications I really want is that its a free floating rail, and one that is tough and light at the same time. The omega caught my eye and I have heard great things. Theres really no other requirements that I think I need at this time.

I haven't tried the Omega 9, but I put the Omega 7 on my wifes rifle and that thing is awesome. They have a great system for securing the thing to the delta ring and the it's rock solid and lightweight. I *highly* recommend the DD Omega's (I also have the 12 X FSP on one of my DD rifles.)

Just an FYI, there's one for sale in the forums right now. I don't personally know this seller, or have anything to gain from you buying it, just wanted to let you know!

The Omega is fairly light, and so is the Omega-X.

                  Omega 9.0 = 12.23 oz. (includes delta-ring assembly)
                  Omega-X 9.0 = 11.70 oz.
                  Centurion Arms 9.0 = 10.8 oz.

I am not sure of the accuracy of the Omega weights, but they can be found here:

I am also not sure of the accuracy of the Centurion Arms weight, but it can be found here:
