gas length specific low pro gas blocks?

Are low profile gas blocks gas length specific? So for instance I have this low profile gas block http://yankeehillmachine.com/store/product540.html
and put it on a rifle length rifle would it work?

The description says it is for a carbine rifle to put extended rails. There is extended low profile gas blocks and short ones like the one linked. Does it matter what length the gas block is for the according rifle gas length?

It doesn't matter what the length of your gas system is.

It's advertised to use with a carbine length gas system and a mid length hand guard. The gas block is low profile enough for the longer hand guard to cover the block. Normal gas blocks are too tall to fit inside the free floated hand guards.
