    pretty sweet range day

After school at 1145 i went up to the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club for a few hours. Was a good day. Brought the Mosin Nagant (first time shooting it and LOVED it), brought the ar15. Both of those shot at the 50 yard. Then switched over to the 100 yd and shot the AR and AK47. Not bad groupings. Used Irons all day. Sunny, warm, not too crowded. LOVED it. favorite place. Highly recommended area for first time shooters

Awesome! It definitely was a nice day! I was actually near you but I was at the King's Mountain Archery range from about noon to 5pm. Nice and quiet, and being one with nature. Definitely therapeutic to get away from it all, and play hookie from work.

haha yes definitely. Surprising to most people, going to the range is what calms me down the most

              LG Marine,

Have you check out Sunnyvale rod and gun club? That's a good place too...and they have steel silhouettes at 100 yards, so it's always fun to punch those. Los Altos Rod and Gun is great too especially at the 40 yards tin can range.

Let me know when you go...I might go next Sunday as they are opened the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Going to break in and sight in my Remington SPS Tactical 308, and test out the new Trijicon TR24 on the AR. And throw a few rounds through the Glock.

Heh - I had a nice range day myself. Took my new AK (actually SGL-20) out for it's first spin. It's my first AK rifle, and I LOOOVE it!!! Gentle recoil, despite the relatively light weight of the gun. Even though I had to deal with the stupid bullet button, I was still cranking rounds quickly through her. The heat shields inside the handguards really work!

I had a red dot atop it and once I got it dialed in, bowling pins at 200 yards had no chance! Just a fun, fun, fun day with a great gun. Lots of tacticool factor, and yet still a very pleasant rifle to shoot. Not only AK-style reliability, but it seemed like the brass would have made a small pile in a 3 foot circle to my front and right if I hadn't been shifting from the bench to a standing position. Arsenal makes some fine rifles. Other guys to my right and left were shooting their ARs and I noted they had a number of stoppages. The AK performed flawlessly. Before, my shtf longarm was going to be my Mini 30. However, it's ammo sensitive in that it doesn't reliably detonate Wolf and Tula and other Com-Bloc ammo. The AK is in it's element with that brand of ammo. Now, I know that my AK is ultra reliable and moderately accurate as well.

                        Signed,
                        One Happy new AK owner!

                          that's a problem

It implies you only have one AR

                          very sad

you need a heavier hammer spring for the mini-30. i have one as well and after replacing that it helped a lot. surplus russian doesnt stand a chance, chinese and all that. it was wolf that gave me the most problems. 3 outta 10 misfires after the spring swap.
