    my ar finally jammed...

well i bought a stag arms model 8 about 6 months ago, have put nearly 1k of russian crap ammo through it without cleaning and well it jammed. went to panoche the other day and started blowing though rounds. then the jam occured. the extractor broke off the some of the casing. i tired getting it out gently with a knife but no dice, then had to pretty much ram that bastard out with a cleaning rod. when i got it out the case was pretty mangled. never thought it would jam but it did

I've had that happen with steel case ammo also, it's the ammo not the rifle.

1k of Russian crap ammo through it without cleaning
you got guts man. I'd do that with mid grade, but with the cheap Russian stuff i would be afraid of corrosion.

so is it a cleaning issue or the crap ammo?I was thinking about shooting some of the junk ammo because of cost but i dropped alot of money on my ar and dont want to screw it up.

American Tactical is NOTORIOUS for that. It was a great deal for 1k rounds, but man was it annoying. I'd have to ram the casing out with a rod and then take my bcg apart to get the brass shavings out from the extractor.

It's the crappy ammo, is it going to hurt anything? No. Will it be annoying as hell, yes.

This is why people don't use "budget" ammo for self defense.

i have a stag 3h and had the same thing happen with steel case ammo(wolf military classic)
i have since used brass case ammo(600-700) and will run some tula then some wolf through it this Saturday and see if the case's break off again.maybe the extractor needed breaking in (tight).

Neglect any machine and it will malfunction. I have a Stag M8 and I clean it when I get home faithfully so it will work if & when I need it to. (old habit)

I'd rather use factory brass reloads than brand new steel Wolf ammo.

FYI steel cases do not expand like brass, therefore it fouls up the chambers more rapidly than brass. The virtue of brass is that it expands in the chamber and extracts much of the residue, keeping the chamber cleaner. You just will have to clean more often with steel ammo. Not to mention, Wolf powder burns dirtier.

I've never understood why some guys like to run their weapon as long as they can without cleaning it. I get the torture tests done by the manufacturers but any weapon will jam up when it gets too dirty. Its been crammed into my head to clean my firearms religiously. I was in the military so I do mean religiously. Maybe I just baby my weapons too much.

But its nice to know that DI weapons can handle that much abuse.
