    svt40 high powered?

I know its pretty obvious that the 54r is a big round but would you guys say that puts the svt40 in the category of high powered rifles? im pretty sure the damage done to the intended targets in the war was pretty devistating.

They don't call it the "Russian .30-06" for nothing.

7.62x54R is more powerful than .308 and right behind .30-06. One of the best hard hitting cartridges around. I'd love to use it for elk, Dropped a deer and a Pig with it before no problem

7.62x54r, .30-06, 8mm Mauser, 7.62 NATO are all pretty similar in power so yeah I would consider it a pretty hard hitting round.

yes the 7.62x54r is a great round.. and unfortunately is still used in the sandbox, and many other countries.. by are enemies.. it does about the same damage as a 7.62 nato aka 308. so yes it is a devastating round..

Anything that has been used in air combat seems to be high powered to me!
Lots of BF109's downed by 7.62x54R in the Great Patriotic War.

I actually read somewhere that the 54r is actually closer to the power of a 30-06. The 8mm mauser,30-06 and 54r are 4000 joule rounds while the .308 is a 3500 joule round, after hearing that it made me love the 54r even more.
