sling strings?

I bought a EMA Tactical two point sling (6003) today, and when I opened the package noticed it came with two lengths of string. Anybody know what they're for?

Ok...According to google this is an IDF sling, if that helps.

What do the Israelis (sp?) use the strings for?

Is it Para Cord type of string? They could be for tying the sling to the weapon as a secondary measure of retention in case the sling swivels fail; this technique is used quite a bit in the military.

Other than that, I have not a clue.

I don't know what ends are on those slings, but I'm guessing if its IDF, its to top mount the slings on M16's. Make a loop around the buttstock, through the bottomswivle so you can put one end of the sling mounted on the top off the butt. Same for the front.

the ends are plastic...er,polymer... clips.

After looking at some pics of the IDF folks in action I think you are correct. They appear to be using strings to tie their slings to their weapons at the front sight and top of the stock...

Tried it out and it works pretty darn well that way.

I used that sling throughout my deployment. IT was actually the most convenient sling I had and liked it better than the magpul BS. I wrapped one of the "shoe laces" tight around the front loop and tied a sturdy knot with a loop. On my butstock, I wrapped it tight around the upper part where there is a slot and tied the shoe lace in a sturdy know with a loop. I then clipped on the sling to the loops.
