    Miculek Comp Install

I just got my Miculek comp for my AR15. I had a question however. When I put on the lock nut then the comp and tighten it down, I get a slight gap between the barrel and the nut. Of course one more rotation leaves the comp less than a quarter turn from being straight.

Is the gap an issue, besides looking dumb, or is it OK with the gap. To fix the problem of the gap could I file the lock nut down in order to get rid of the gap? Any solutions or just leave it? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you are talking about a "lock nut" that comes with the comp or a crush washer. If you have a conical crush washer there will be a slight gap between the washer and the barrel much like with the flask hider

Sorry. I was talking about the lock nut that comes with the comp. The gap fairly small but still very visible.

Here's a pic. Maybe it will help.

Looks like you need a crush washer.

I have one. The comp bottoms out before it reaches the crush washer.

I bought a compensator for my .308 AR a month ago. It came with extra little spacer discs that look like ultra thin washers for exactly the purpose you are talking about...to remove an unsightly gap. It's basically a cosmetic issue at this point. The comp isn't going anywhere if you have the crush washer installed so hit the hardware store and fine something to fill that gap.
