    Which .22LR bolt-action?

I'm not interested in a semi-auto. This is something for plinking and rabbits, which I'll also use to teach my son how to shoot when he's old enough. I've already been perusing rimfirecentral.com, but I'd like your guys opinion.

For out of the box accuracy and price, nothing beats the Marlin. IMHO.

The CZ 452 is actually quite an amazing little shooter. Smooth action, nice trigger and surprisingly accurate.

The pig heart at Angeles Range has no chance if you do your part.

A Kimber? Maybe the Hunter model? Otherwise CZ has great-looking little rimfires.

I recently picked up a Marlin 925 for the same reasons you are looking. It is a sweet shooter. I was punching one hole groups at 25yds while sighting in. The trigger pull was heavy so I went with a Rifle Basix trigger group. Nice, crisp pull and much lighter (2lbs-ish). I need a better scope now. Big 5 was selling the syn stocked version for 159.00 recently.

Have you considered the new Browning T Bolt? The straight pull bolt is much easier for young shooters to use. I taught my sons to shoot with one of the old ones. New ones are not cheap, 400+.

IIRC the 452>513, and the two shouldn't necessarily be considered equivalent.

I have the CZ 452 and it's the best looking of the rifles listed. I got a trigger spring and spacer kit on Rimfire Central and it is a great little gun.

The TOZ is a great rifle. It's sights are similar to a Mosin or AK, so its a good practice gun if you like to shoot Com Bloc guns.

Current poll results at 2140hrs, Friday the 29th:
                          • 15 CZ 452 trainer or 513 basic
                          • 4 Marlin 925
                          • 0 Stevens 300
                          • 4 Savage MKL-II, either the BV or FV
                          • 3 Russian TOZ soon to be known as the Winchester Wildcat

Thanks guys! The Browning and the Anschutz are more than I'm willing to spend, I looked on GalleryOfGuns and didn't find the Kimber, but I expect it also leans towards the expensive side.

The poll results surprise me a little, I expected the CZ would be a front-runner but not by such a wide margin! I was also surprised to see the Savage and the Marlin be so close, I somehow expected the Savage to rate higher than the Marlin.

Those of you who voted for the TOZ, especially if you have another rimfire I'd like to know why you voted the way you did. The comment about Mosin style sights is interesting as I have a couple of these in my safe. I didn't expect any votes for the TOZ and thought at least one person would say "Buy the Stevens 300 and drop a Rifle Basix into it".

The poll's still open, so if you haven't voted yet go ahead!

                            Why I choose TOZ-78

                            Well,
this post is kind of old. But I found it when I search for anything about my new rifle TOZ-78.
if we compare the price on Gunbroker:
CZ 452 - will be 280 -380 and even more expensive.
                            Marlin 925 - 150 -190
Stevens 300 - 130 for synthetic or 270 for wood stock
                            Savage - from 135 - to 380
                            Toz 78 - from 145 - to 190

So I bought toz and just recently went to the range to check the rifle.
It has adjustable trigger - so I set it up as I would like. and I'm not sure if CZ will allow me to do so.
Sorry to some members - I cannot shoot rifle on distance 25y or even as I saw even 15 y with the scope on it

As usually I use rimfire rifle on 50 y and centerfire on 50 and 100y. (It would be fun to shoot centerfire one on distance 200y and more)
So, here is my targets. I used different kind of ammo to find out which one is better. Black targets are well known small add in to "Shoot-n-See" targets.

I think if I can shoot at 50 y with rifle which cost me 145. I dont need something for $300 -$400.
I already have 10/22 - and I like it, but I want a bolt action rifle. And I made my choice.

I bought the very last Toz-78 (Whisper) from Centerfire Systems for $99.95 a couple of weeks ago. Comes with 2x 10rd & 2x 5rd magazines. I pick it up from my FFL on Tuesday. I will post a review once I get a chance to shoot it.
