Sig 556 hot gases in face while shooting prone

Hello all,

I have a sig 556 short swat with a smith vortex installed. On my last range trip with it I noticed that when I shoot prone I get quite a bit of gas or some blow by of some sort in the face. When I shoot standing this does not happen. I have searched the web and cant find any definite answers. I love the gun but this is quite annoying so any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Try the factory muzzle device and see if you have the same problem. Pete

I would call Sig, most of the gas desipate behind the front sight, thru the rail, I'm surprise any gas would even reach you...

loose the vortex. put back original.

I have the smith vortex and never had this issue ever
