Should I bull-pup the Chi-com SKS & is it CA legal?

    so I saw this:

bull-pup kit for the SKS. 1) since the overall length is still over the reguired 26" it wont be a SBR 2) SKS has no detachable mag in CA, so stripper clips through the top check @ 1:46 when he does a reload 3) the SKS is a more accurate rifle than the AK using the same 7.62x39 ammo. from my research and talks with gunsmiths, tactical intructors etc mainly due to longer barrel length.

I dont know if using the Iron sights would still be possible BUT if I cant have it in CALI i guess thats another big THANK YOU i give to the idot anti-guners that violate MY 2nd amend right - God knows how bad I want a .50 cal

I know some of you die-hard shooters that never would "bubba" a gun might want to murder me for thinking of this avenue for a nice SKS but I would like to make it a bit more modern looking as well as the WOW factor of being different - I mean how many bull-pup SKS's did you see the last time you went to the range??? i know you want to shoot one nowm huh

If you watch his other vids you can see how he does the install and seems very straightforward & pretty easy.... what do you all think?

    Thank you my CalGun friends.
    I mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57

Yes, it's legal as long as you retain the fixed 10 rd mag. A friend has one of these on order for his beater Yugo. Looks interesting.

As to .50 cal, you can own them. See our site below.

            Why wouldn't it be?

The big problem is that they have been promising delivery for over a year....

Sorry, I guess they have shipped some..

I say the heck with what everyone says about doing that to your gun. If you like it and you're paying for it, do it!

Minimum length for a semiautomatic centerfire rifle is 30" or it is an assault weapon, regardless of the other evil features or the fixed magazine. It is a separate statute. You'd need to extend the muzzle (or buttstock) by 4" or so.

Edit: Just watched the video and I see that it is indeed just over 30", so it would in face be legal in CA.

But as one of the Youtube comments points out.... at over $200, you're doubling the cost of your SKS (but not doubling what it's worth).
May as well buy a used AR, or get a true, engineered Bullpup with the barrel extended to bring it to 30.1"

sorry, in their vid they state (@ 1:11, the overall length is 30 3/8")

Now that we see it is legal....should I do it?? Is it a violation to the Ruski gun gods???

If I were to score an SKS for $100 that was beat to crap with chipped, cut, and stained wood, I'd do it in a heartbeat (assuming the "damage" is not trench art... I love trench art).

First off how is the trigger on your sks? On these bulpups the trigger has to have some linkage to go to the stock trigger on your rifle. This will make your trigger worse. If you want a cool well made stock for your sks get a choate dragunov stock. This is a sks I use to have with a choate stock. Mark

Actually I've seen this kit at the local gun show, the owner of the company let me play and get a feel for the rifle. The mechanism makes the trigger have less travel, it has a better feel. You'd have to see it and make your own decision but without seeing it you probably should not make those assumptions.

The kit is well made and might be something I would do to my Chinese import.

Clever engineering can create a linkage that will give you a crisp trigger pull.

Nothing can destroy the epic mall-ninja status that this item will give you at the range.
Make sure to wear all of your CTD or Sportsman's Supply tactical gear and full BDU's to the range too.

I was fortunate to find a beater SKS and have one of these on order. It's perfectly legal as long as you keep the original box mag, don't make it cool, ect, ect, ect...

But still have no idea if/when I'll see it. To be honest I held off ordering the thing at first cause it looked like a scam or something especially with "development/shipping delays" streching well over a year. And now we're told there's another big delay. Even after I ordered it I still have a few nagging doubts. We'll have to see if they actually ship the thing anytime soon.

I dont understand what makes this a "mall ninja".making a gun a bullpup is not a bad idea if you want your gun to be more compact. Is it because its polymer replacing wood??? It doesnt have lots of rails, clue me in.
