New Scope - What to Put it On?

It's birthday time & my soon to arrive requested gift is a Weaver 36X target scope. The decision I have is on what do I mount it?

    1) A larger caliber long range target rifle I don't use very often, but when I
    do it's at 200 or 300 yds.

    2) A very accurate 223 caliber, 100 yd target rifle I use often.

    3) Buy another target rifle and mount the scope on that rifle. The rifle will be
typically used at 100 to 600 yards.

Choices one & two are from my current inventory - either a Sig 970 STR in 300 Win Mag or Remington PSS in 7 Rem Mag in the larger calibers, a Ruger Target 77 in 223 is my most used target rifle as #2.

If I pick up another rifle - and I'm guessing no one here is going to pass up the opportunity to say "Buy another rifle" - I wouldn't mind suggestions on rifle & caliber. I'd lean towards something in 260 Remington or 6.5 X 284. Bolt is the most likely action and I do reload.

    Any suggestions?

if the scope you are getting is a fixed 36x power - you would be limited to short range "precision" of some kind. anything past 8x or 10x on a hot day and you won't be able to see much past 200m in the "soup"..... sounds like a scope to put on a 22 or .17hmr ? for 50metre fly swatting....

of the ones listed a 100m 223 would be the closest, the high magnification would now allow you the fun of seeing bullet impact....
    Seriously missing the 80's.....

Nice scope. The Weaver T36 is one of the best fixed power benchrest scopes. I have one.

I'd put it on a benchrest rifle for 50-100 yard shooting. Lots of guys use them on benchrest rimfire rifles.

I have mine on my 10/22.

Wow, 36x FIXED. What kind of field-of-view does it have?

Seems like you could see the nuts on an ant at 100yrds.
