    USC Question?

I have a USC and was given an extra stock. A buddy did an UMP conversion. He told me I could hack the stock end off it and make a pistol. I know it has a 16" barrel on the USC. Is it illegal for me to do the hacking.

No. You can't simply turn a rifle into a pistol. Besides, you would ruin it. Search SBR laws and such. Plenty of matter on that topic.

once a rifle always a rifle. you go hacking things off and you will create a weapon which requires government permission to own....and you are not getting that if you live in CA.

I've said it before on here and I'll say it again. Removing the stock off your rifle and calling it a pistol is like putting wings on your car and calling it an airplane. It doesn't work like that. Instead you'll just end up with an unregistered Assault Weapon (felony) and possibly an unregistered Short Barreled Rifle (felony).

Don't take anymore advice from that guy. He is gonna get you thrown in jail.
