LWRC has some video online of their .308 REPR with a 12" upper. The idea behind it is for a sniper/DM to use the short barrel to get into position (urban) and then switch to a 20" on scene. That way there is no need for the DM to carry more than one "gun".

But I think someone made one full auto.

Depends on what you want to do with it. My next one will be AAC 300 blackout which is basically the same thing as 300 whisper or 300/221 fireball. Reason being is that it will shoot a .308 bullet without the recoil of a 308. It delivers more energy out of a shorter barrel than 5.56. it will feed more reliably in the AR than the 7.62x39. Ammo makers should be producing it (I know I plan on producing my own brand of Reloads for it) so it should be less expensive than 6.8. And if you wanna go suppressed, you can go subsonic to make it real quiet. That is my thinking however and you might be looking for something different.

Now, you may want to give it a few months to see if it takes off and ammo is widely available as they say it should be. Remington is making ammo now and it is already being sold. If your into reloading however you could always get ammo as the brass can be formed from .223 brass.

What is a shorth barrel, is that a new caliber? They already have the .577 T-Rex, how bout the .580 Shorth LOL JK.

I would go with a pistol caliber if Im under 16 inches, unless you have a SBR you are not gonna be able to have as much fun with it. .308/7.62 NATO out of a pistol like that would probably hurt LOL

I have a 10.5" .308 AR, and it much less recoil than a 16+" barrel. I can shoot it one handed.
