    TAPCO question

Why do a lot of people hate TAPCO products so much? They seem nice and pretty fair priced.

I haven't had any problems with the products I've purchased from them but have yet to try out their mags or stocks?

Some of their products are actually very good like the AK FCG which has become the industry standard by many AK builders and importers. Their AK building flats and rivets/ center supports are definitely inferior to other manufacturers. Their muzzle brakes and magazines are OK for the price, and their furniture is competitively priced. Some designs are ugly, but most are utilitarian and tough enough for regular shooters and weekend warriors.

My guess is, Tapco products are every where, and most of us are just tired of seeing the same products being used over and over again. Of the two mass market brands, I would chose Tapco over ATI furniture any day.

Their collapsible stock & buffer tube combo has been excellent on my AR, and was only $60.

Tapco stuff is definitely better than UTG at least.

It depends on what kind of tapco stuff you are talking about..

In the AK market most of the tapco stuff is eh.. The stocks and handguards are okay for most people. The only good thing is the triggers. I would never get a tapco flat nor would I ever use the soft arse tapco rivets.

I have it on my SKS, descent quality. Just not many other products are made for the SKS's.

Their AK mags and folding rear stock, and normal stosks are great on AK type rifles. People hate to hate...Never had a problem with any of their products.

                    An excellent, though backhanded, review.

I have some of their magazines for my WASR. They wouldn't snap in at first so i had to take a bastard file to take of a thin layer off the top of the notch for them to fit. Maybe I got a bad batch or maybe my WASR is to blame.

They shoot fine though. Reliable tough mags

My Tapco AK mags were very cheap, and broke after a year of use. The stocks I have used seemed pretty good. I would rather use Kvar or circle10 rebuild kits.

Like others have said, Tapco has some products that are widely used and are a good price. Some people insist on brands they feel give them status. The wine and cheese crowd can be pretty snooty.

That's because the FCG is still made by Gordon Technologies.
Back in the day on Tapco's website it was listed as Gordon Tech G1s and G2s.
I paid $25 for the G2s (double hooks)

Some of their products are very good, some not. I am a big fan of their stubby forward grip I have one on an AK and an M-4. It is well made and very tuff. I like the understated workman look of it.
