M1A Scout Squad available in CA

I'm saving pennies and aluminum cans in order to buy an M1A Scout Squad( i know it's gonna take a while) The problem is that no one seems to have them (in the CA legal version) I've seen SOCOM's at Turner's(while back) but never aScout/bush model. Can anyone give any leads? What about buying online, are they CA legal?(Scout's I've seen have lot's o' little holes on the muzzle brake, are these CA legal?) Thanks in advance for your time and replies,
    Dave

I went to Turner's the other day in San Diego (6/19 I think)....I was looking for a Scout model and they told me "Good Luck". They said "Good Luck" when I asked about the Socom also.....The sales guy told me that SAI was back ordered because their resources were being directed at government orders for the war. He told me that the closest thing I could get was the National Match model they had and that it "would sell today" if I did not buy it....

I see Socoms all over the place. I saw one at Iron Sights last weekend, and I'm pretty sure at On Target. I see them up on the Equipment exchange at ARF.com all the time. I don't think this should be that hard to find. Sounds more like salesmanship to me.

Not all are CA legal. The muzzle brake vs. flash hider is an issue.

I saw one at Retting 2 weeks ago.

Nearly all of the SAI rifles are in somewhat short supply. I know Davidson's has them allocated.

There's one for sale in the classifieds. Good luck, took me about a month to find mine.

I belive i saw one at jackson arms (south sf) but that was about 3 weeks to a month ago. Not sure if it is still there. Check out m-14forums.com in the PX and see if you can get a local FFL to do the transfer from out of state. Thats how i got mine.

I know that the Stockade in Westminster has them. At least they did a few months ago.

I thought all Scouts were CA legal, since they all have muzzle breaks and not FHs. At least the stock ones. I can't remember if they have a specific CA-legal model #, but if they did that would be because of mag size, so they'd either have to swap you out a 10rnder or ship it without.

I picked one up a little over a year ago, and it was a tough find. I had to go out of state and transfer to an FFL here.

It took me 3 months to find my NIB Scout on gunbroker. No one else had them....or they wanted a ridiculous price for them. Of course after I purchased mine, there were a few on arf.com for sale, but all used and about the price I paid for NIB. Just keep looking and be ready to buy if you find one. Good luck!

I bought a Scout M1A last summer out in Montana and had it DROSed out here. I do remember the clerk having to do a little research at Springfield to find out if its legal. Mine has a muzzle brake, but for some reason the paperwork didn't state CA legal. Have the gun shop dig a little deaper.
