Installing free float on AR w/perm suppressor

It depends on what kind of FF forearms are you using.
For YHM, DD, LaRue Tac, JP or DPMS (traditional style) ones, you need to remove the muzzle devices unless it's about the same size of your barrel.
For two-piece (such as MI) or just an add-on sleeve (i.e. Vltor CASV or ARMS Swan sleeves), you don't need to remove muzzle devices. -
What kind of front sight do you have? If it is a 2 piece gas block that can be removed without slipping it off the barrel, AND if the flashhider is not larger than the opening of the handguard, you can fit it without removing the hider. If you have the standard fs, you will have to remove the perm hider if you are using a one piece float tube (to slide the sight off). If you go with a two piece rail, like the Troy handguard, you will just have to cut the delta ring and spring off since they are not used with it, and you can then snap the handguard together around the barrel.Tzvia

RIP Kelev my sweet Lab (and avatar). The best dog in the known universe. Thank you for 14 wonderful years. I will see you again one day.Comment

I specifically bought my Troy FF handguards for that reason for my pseudo-SPR build. I did not wanna remove front sight or remove barrel.

I bolted on Midwest Industries two-piece free float on my 14.5" CMMG upper. It was a piece of cake, a lot easier than installing the YHM free float on my other upper. That involved removing the front gas block, replacing the barrell nut, etc...Comment
