What's the skinny on the savage Axis?

So it's come to my attention after browsing the savage website that the previously named "Edge" series of rifles has been changed to the savage "Axis" series.

Anyone know why? And would this make the previously sold Edge rifles more rare or worth more in the distant future?

PS: I searched to make sure this isn't a dupe but I think we all know that the search function is a crapshoot so I apologize ahead of time if this has come up before.

I have seen them being recomended a few times on this site. They seem to have a pretty good following when it comes to low cost rifles. I am going to take a look at them, just because. Just my .02

I don't think this will affect the value of edge rifles other than to make them go down. The edge series is hardly rare, and collectors tend to go for higher quality items or items with history first.
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

They changed the name in hopes of better marketing...these are Savages low grade rifles not that they are bad but not something to brag about , I doubt there will ever be a great following. They are entry levels rifles such as the Stevens line and the same with the Remmy 710 now history for good reason but replaced with the new 770 line. If you can step up a bit and get something a little better you will be happier now and later...
