Indoor ranges or BLM land. Are you looking into buying a SAGIA? -
Well if you go there then you should know if you can shoot it there or not....right
I don't think we are trying to split hairs here. We are suggesting BLM land and not to bring in every possible situation.Comment

I contacted Wolf at their Placentia office last week, and asked about their ammunition.
They stated that their 5.45x39 is lead core.
Is the bi-metal jacket the issue with the range?
With the bi metal jacket, a magnet could pick it up.

If it sticks to a magnet, Angeles wont let you shoot it. I believe the Bi metal stuff is still magnetic. This is the main reason I dont own a 7.62x39 or 5.45 rifle. All the cheap ammo I cant shoot unless I take a 3 hour drive to BLM land........Comment

On Target in Laguna will let you shoot bi metal. They only have 5 lanes and you have to take a carbine course, costs $20 and includes time to shoot. However, that's indoor 25 yards max. There are shooting clubs that will let you use bimetal ammo, but then you have to sign up for a membership.
Does Angeles even check your ammo? Never been, so just wondering. Could you get away by telling them it's not bimetal or do they literally take a magnet to your ammo? I've never seen that done anywhere.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks & corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

There is a reason they don't let you use bimetal or steel ammo, they can start fires. Please don't break their rules or try to get away with it if the range doesn't allow it. You can be heavily fined and could possibly shut down a range. It HAS happened to both ranges i go to in socal so it is not FUD.Comment

Burro allows bimetal when it is not fire season. Angles will always check, they have magnets on the posts there. Not sure about Lytle creek, but the only other range is On Target which allows anything as long as you take the course.
I have a 545 upper just so I can shoot the cheap ammo, but I mostly only use it when I go to arizona to shoot and bring out my 30 round mags... I figure if I'm going to ammo dump, 223 is still kinda expensive to do that, but the 545 is so cheap, I won't care.kevin.Comment
