    40 gr TAP for HD

Just wondering what you guys thoughts are on Hornady 40 gr TAP .223 for for HD are. I got some from Midway or some place on sale. I figured it would be best for not going through walls etc. But is it appropriate for 1:7 twist rates?

    Thanks

Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. I think that may be too fast of a twist for a lightweight bullet. If I recall correctly, the faster twist is best for stabilizing a heavier bullet, and the slower twist rates best for lighter bullets. I think you would probably get some keyhole-ing with a bullet that light in a barrel that fast, but I'm no expert.

if the jacket stays on it will work

There really is no such thing as overstabilizing a bullet. The only issue is that some very deicate bullets can come apart when spun too fast. Shoot a box, if theyy hold together than they are fine. The light bullet should minimize the potential for going through walls and such.

1:7 will over spin a 40gr enough to give accurate fire past 100 yards. You will have about the same accuracy as when you use .22lr conversion kit. The force requird to spin it that fast will deminish the velocity of the round as well.
