HK416 Upper on a Colt Lower?

Is it possible to have the HK416 upper on a Colt Lower? I know the 416 is gas piston operated, Just wondering if it's compatible with a different lower. Looking to build a HK416 for the fun of it.

*EDIT* Found out that you can put it on a different lower, Where would I find a decently priced 416 Upper? I know people are selling them for like 4K+

yes, an HK416 upper is pin-compatible with standard AR-pattern lowers. However, your colt probably has the colt-only offset front pin, so you would need to use a conversion pin to make it work. but it can be done.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Be careful when purchasing an HK416 upper. Lot of fakes floating around.

          Haven't heard about this...

Does the real HK416 have markings on the inner barrel and the rails? How can you tell?

I'm looking at one from HKparts, and I can only see the bolt group has the HK symbol

Buy from a reputable dealer and make sure paperwork is included would be my best guess. I'm sure that someone here has already found one. So try a search of the forums and see what comes up.

Also if you find one for a price to good to be true... buyer beware
