Why someone would want to own a semi-auto Thompson, and yet one that only holds 10 rounds is beyond me. To each, their own.... I guess.

I saw (and fondled ) two in Fowlers in Orange. One was a Auto Ord. with the "mobster" forward grip, drum mag, and charging handle on top. The other was in a M1A1 configuration, I don't remember who manufactured that one though. They sure were heavy though.

            Dear California,
I love you. I was born and raised in you. You have given me some of the best times of my life. Now with that said, I can not wait to move!

Maybe because most of us can't own any other versions, yet we still like the model?

Tommy M1A1 semi auto owner here.
You can also put a grip wrap on it and easily go featureless.
I did this and also put the extended bolt handle on it to make charging the rifle easier.
                STIFF springs.
More and more of these are finding their way to Cali these days.

I have one from back in the day. I also have a load of mags & drums for mine.

I went featureless, with the horizontal foregrip, and I cut down a spare wood pistol grip into a "nub" that does not protrude beneath the trigger guard.

The downside to featureless is that its almost dangerously uncontrollable for someone who is unused to the weight and heft of a steel Thompson.

I just recently picked up an original Auto -Ordnance 1927A3 in .22 caliber , which is a hoot to shoot and half the weight, plus I can have all the evil features I want.

I guess owning a semi-auto AR15, AK style rifle, FAL, SKS, or any style HK would be beyond you as well?

The answer is simple, the Thompson is an american icon and they are just plain cool.

Turby stop it. your making sense again. same reason we have ak's, ar15's HK91, Fal's.

they all hold 10 rds. but are just freaking badass. Seriously a Thompson m1a1 would be very fun to own. Shot a F/A in vegas thing was freaking SMOOOOOOTH.
