    issues with Mcfarland gas ring?????

I Installed the gas ring it had a tight fit I went to the range last weekend fired 200+ of 556 through my Dpms factory upper and now the rings have no resistance. The bolt moves in and out with gravity as i turn the carrier 180 degrees. Is this loose of a bolt a Problem?

Is your rifle still working and no problems functioning? Not a problem, but if you want to check,,,,,

Remove the cam pin, firing pin and firing pin retainer. Replace the bolt into the bolt carrier. Pull the bolt forward (as if the cam pin was in place) in the carrier. Set the entire bolt/bolt carrier assembly onto the bolt face, allowing it to stand upright on a table.

If the carrier settles down onto the bolt under the weight of the assembly, it may not have a good gas seal for function.
