DD AR15 Lite Rail vs Omega X

    Hi everyone:

I am looking to get either the Daniel Defense AR15 Lite Rail 9.0 or Omega X 9.0. My deciding factor is coming down to the width of each rail. From the few pictures I have found on Calguns and online it appears as though the Omega X 9.0 is thinner (3 o'clock to 9 o'clock rail position) than the AR15 Lite Rail 9.0.

Can anyone confirm this? Anyone have their own pictures with a better angle?

This rail will be going on my BCM BFH 16" Midlength. As always, thanks for the help.

My Omega X seems to be the same as the Omega Rail listed on the far right, even though it is not a drop in Omega, it is 1.90 wide.

I was having the same questions and it took two different local shops to find both rails to decide. You should not base a choice on the dimensions alone, you should hold both of them in your hand if possible. I found I liked the feel of the lite, though it is wider. The omega just didn't feel right (too tall) in my hand.

I had both and now have only the lite rail. You wouldn't notice the difference between the two when holding them, especially if you're planning on putting on rail covers. I kept the lite rail because it has a much stronger mounting setup. I have one on my .308 also.

Thanks for all of the input everyone. I think I'm going to go with the Omega X Rail 9.0 (midlength). Now I just need to find the best price (hoping for some Black Friday or Christmas deals)!

Thyey are the same in height dimension. Can't understand how one is too tall and not the other? Besides the intent isn't to wrap your hand all the way around it but hey whichever you are more comfortable with

If I had said too narrow, would that have made more sense? The Omega didn't feel too narrow though, it did feel too tall. Yes, the height dimension shown are the same, but the ratio of the height vs. width is different.

I didn't measure them at the stores, I held them as if shooting off-hand, both strong hand (right handed) and weak (left handed.)

Yes, I agree, to each their own. That is why I suggested to the OP that they should try each one before buying.

Yes, I agaree, to each their own. That is why they make vanilla and strawberry and chocolate, etc etc.

lol ok fair enough. I see where you're coming from there. I personally prefer the profile of Troy mrf rails but they weigh so much more.
