Initial thoughts on the Tikka T3 *Range Report..It's a shooter!*

This was the first rifle I've ever purchased (and my first Tikka), without being able to get one in my hands beforehand. Stan offered me a double my money back guarantee that I'd be satisfied, so I could not refuse! (I kid)

Glass = Vortex Viper (6.5-20X50) and Burris XTR rings

    Likes:
*Has a very nice trigger (even bone stock and it's adjustable)
    *Has very smooth bolt operation
    *Great overall balance
    *Overall weight is nice
*Controls (safety\etc) feel like they are in the right place (for me)
*Stock bolt feels good...but, this will also get replaced to after market down the road.
*Barrel is a Sako, so they are shooters

    Dislikes:
*The plastic bolt housing (at the end)...I know Tikka utilizes to save weight, but it's cheesy and they break\crack...will be replaced with after market.
*I feel they could have\should have added a little more density to the buttstock synthetic...it's got a "hollowness" to it..nothing to affect performance, but just "feel".
*Tikka mag feels a little under built and could be sturdier.

This dislikes are not huge by any means....just things that I noticed.

So....plan on getting out and see how it shoots this weekend.....with the Tikka guarantee, I don't think I'll be disappointed

    Great scope mount!

jmzhwells...4th pic at the very end of the bolt assembly is the plastic shroud...again, not a big deal...I'm expecting it to shoot well.

I have the same gun but in SS and .308. I love it! Where did you get the mags?
Edit I just watched the vid. Can you get them for the .308? Do you have a link?

You made the correct decision on this system! I own the T3 Tactical in .308 with a Nightforce NSX and its accuracy is overwhelming..

My question to you....I'm ready to purchase the "Scout" myself in .223 and needed to know if it comes with the adjustable cheek piece on the stock(like the tactical model). With the 50mm objective on the glass the standard stock would not give me the correct "cheek weld & line of sight" with the optic..

                  Thanks for your time!

Is this the same as the TAC/Scout Compact Tactical Rifle CTR model with the 20" threaded barrel?

If it has a "Threaded barrel" then it is a "T3 Tactical". I do not believe the "Scout CTR" is threaded for a suppressor.

It looks like it comes in a 20" barrel option long with the 24" option now...

Nice looking rifle. I have one in .308 with a badger thruster brake. Believe it or not I put rice in my stock and it helped a lot with the weight and balance.

That's a nice set up, milder

The Scout's cheek piece is non adjustable. Still has a good weld (for me) though.

Good luck if you pick one up

I could not find the Scout on Tikka's site...I did find it here-

the Tac and Scout are two different models....wanted a Tac, but wanted to keep the $$ down.

Ok....finally had some great weather...A little windy, but I'll take it over rain and wind.

Here are 200 yard results with some 75gr Hornandy BTHP Match (left side) and 55gr PMC std ammo (right side)

Very happy with this rifle....Thanks to Stan for giving me the Tikka bug
