    CA Rifle Laws

I'll apologize first if this isn't in the correct section.
I'm currently stationed in the state if Georgia and I'll be ending my service in the upcoming months. I'll be bringing back my weapons of course and after reading the laws I'm still somewhat unclear on what is considered legal and not.
I own a standard Springfield M1A, Daniel Defense M4, and an AK47, all purchased in Georgia and therefore probably not CA Legal.
The AK47 has a standard grip and wooden stock, If I'm right all I have to do is install a magazine "lock" to prevent the magazine from being removed without a tool.
With the M4, I'd have to install a bullet button as well-I already have a compensator installed.
And with the M1A all I'd have to do is replace the flash suppressor with a compensator.
I also own 2 pistols, mag cap under 10. Do I need to acquire a safety permit?

The laws are confusing the hell out of me and I'd like to confirm before I actually make the move.

    I appreciate the help.

My understanding is that if you slap a maglock on them if they are not pre-ban, you'll be fine.

I made the mistake of coming to live in PRK after my enlistment ended. Had I gone home to PA, I'd have a Abrams Tank and a "compound".. hahahhaa

Section is OK, and it looks like you have everything under control. Comments embedded...

Generally called a 'bullet button' - IIRC, the inventor/manufacturer is a Calguns member.

However, the exact markings on the receiver may make that moot; have to be sure that your AK-type is not 'named' - see link.

With the M4, I'd have to install a bullet button as well-I already have a compensator installed.
That should be right. I have a DD; that's how mine is set up. So long as it's not 'flash hider', you're good.

And with the M1A all I'd have to do is replace the flash suppressor with a compensator.
      Right.

Do recall that all the mags have to be 10 or fewer capacity; you can disassemble your large-capacity mags and bring them, so long as you don't re-assemble them inside CA.

I also own 2 pistols, mag cap under 10. Do I need to acquire a safety permit?
      No.

The Handgun Safety Certificate is required for buying or otherwise receiving handguns. Not needed to own.

Also need to register the handguns with this form and $19 for each.

The laws are confusing the hell out of me and I'd like to confirm before I actually make the move.

      I appreciate the help.
Good of you to ask - welcome to CA.

ETA: Augh! Afro is right - bullet-button equipped DD is not 'capable of accepting a detachable magazine' so either FH or MB/Comp are fine.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Make sure your AK isn't banned by name AND model. It can be tricky. For example an Arsenal SGL-21 is legal here while an Arsenal SLG-21 is not. List posted above.

Yes your Daniel Defense should be good to go. Also note that adding the bullet button does allow you to have a flash hider, but if you prefer a comp then all is gravy here.

Make sure when you you install maglock/BB on the AR & AK that you then only run 10 or less round capacity mags in them when here in the PRK. Any fixed magazine center fire semi-auto rifle (which is what you are doing when installing the maglock/BB) with greater than 10 round capacity mags is an illegal assault weapon in our great state.

As opposed to what areas? Immigration? Polution ?(5 most poluted cities in America are all in CA) Economy? Jobs? The whole state sucks except scenery, which is on the out too. My advice to the OP is stay put if possible.
Fallujah had become a magnet for foreign jihadists and there were several thousand in the city who had come to make martyrs of themselves, to die while killing as many Americans as possibleAt each house I said a prayer, 'Please God get me out of this one.' When I come out of the house, I thank Him, light up a cigarette and move on to the next onesigpic

If you are okay with the heat Arizona is a pretty good choice for all the things mentioned in this thread.
We do have our share of pollution and a lame sheriff though.
But have you seen the girls in Phoenix (ASU/Tempe area to be specific.)

                    Anyway you're good.
Also, as someone said don't run 10+ mags in your bullet button'd rifles.
But also, you can't bring any 10+ round mags here, so the issue is kind of pointless.

Didn't see the type of pistols mentioned, but detachable magazine semi-automatic handguns with threaded barrels are also Assault Weapons in CA.
You think you know, but you have no idea.

Yeah get used to the PRK thing.
I mean the gun laws (and a lot of the other politics) are bad, but still a far cry from DPRK. That is one messed up place.
