    Scope Battle

I'm building a Mega MaTen & I've decided on 2 scopes & was hoping you guys could offer some suggestions . The first scope i was looking at is the USOptics SN3 3.2x17 with 35mm tube & 1/4 moa knobs & a MOA scale reticle . This build with all the options I want is gonna run me around $2800 out the door with mounts .The other scope I'm looking at is the Vortex Razor HD 5x20 with the moa reticle . That scope is gonna run me about $2300 with mounts & all the options I want .I know the USOptics scope is amazing and I've had a chance to actually pick it up & look through it , but is there any reason to get the Vortex over the USOptics other than the difference in price ?

Any reason a NightForce is excluded? Just the 35mm tube?

They're bulletproof (literally) and in all the magnification ranges & reticle/turret you're interested in.

That said, IMHO the glass in the USOptics is a tad clearer than the Vortex and has less tint. At this level, they're all very good.

Not having the 35mm tube is a reason but I'm not really a nightforce fan ......well at least compared against USOptics .

A couple of thoughts (that's what I do best)

Have you looked at Schmidt Bender or any of the other German scopes? I have heard that they are really hard to beat, expensive but great.

On the other end of the scale, price wise at least are some of the scopes from Millett. I read tons of reviews and they were so overwhelmingly positive that I went out and got one of their LRS 6-24 and one TRS 4-16 scopes. Both seem really well made, with very nice optics. Both mine are Mil dot 1/10 Mil adjustment, which I find much more logical than MOA (especially Mil dot MOA adjusting, which makes no sense at all). Though I prefer Mil Mil, I can see the sense of MOA MOA as well, so I certainly agree with your judgement on that. I seriously doubt that the Millett is going to be as good as your US OPtics, it just seems highly unlikely that anyone could build the same scope as US Optics for 1/3 to 1/2 the price, but they are very good.

I'd get the USO just for the sake of keeping money here in the USA at this point. Support your "local" higher end businesses so that they can continue making a high quality product. I can't honestly say I know where the vortex is made but I thought those were out of japan for their high end stuff. If its chinese, then its a no contest IMO.
