    Where to buy M1A?

Looking to purchase an M1a. Have done some searching on the web and cant seem to find a good source. Turners in Kearny Mesa has the loaded model for 1699 and some change. Where else should I look?

One just sold in the marketplace for $1350 slightly used with a bunch of mag rebuild kits... unless you've got to have a new one. There's a brand new one with extras for sale for around $1700 too.

gunbroker has one right now for 1499 and a few for 1550-ish.
figure about 20 bucks shipping gets you to $1520-1570
buy from the seller out of state so you wont pay taxes = $130 saved from 1550 sales price.

take that $130 you saved from taxes and pay your $35 DROS and transfer at a cheap $35 place and you only spend $1590- 1640 OTD for everything. this is why you buy online folks!
it would cost you $1875 at turners assuming 8.25% sales tax and $35 DROS

now you get to buy $230 worth of ammo with the money you saved....

Definitely check here in the marketplace. They are frequently offered for sale and the prices are usually quite good too.

I found one here for a friend for $1400 - M1A Loaded near new with original box, with Springfield branded scope mount, rings, and scope. That was a great deal but they're out there to be found.

Anything you're looking at on Gun Broker needs to have the CA at the end of the model # or else that's a no go I thought. Out of state transfer is going to cost you around $70 total for dealer fee + dros, so that plus shipping is about $100 on top of the selling price assuming it's a CA model.

Best thing is to keep checking the For Sale here and just wait out a nice used one. I just got a loaded off a member here with 4 mags and an Arms mount for around $1400 decent price.

I don't know if I'd ever buy from a local place only cause $1700 + Tax + dros is too rich for my blood. I dig used guns too so...

your local gun store should be able to get them.

This is true, but only if it's from a private seller. If it's a dealer selling it, the California transfer dealer must collect use tax.
