Les Baer Chrome National Match BCG

    Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to get a quick opinion on a Les Baer National Match bolt carrier gropu. I understand these are made by Young Manufacturing. Is $220 a good deal for a brand new one? Anyone have any experience with these?
    Thanks!!!

There has been a lot of discussion regarding the YM NM Chromed BCG in the past (the one Les Baer uses).

The main points always brought up:

-They are definitely easier to clean. A friend of mine runs one in one of his builds, they're definitely a breeze to wipe down.

-YM doesn't stake their carrier key. They say a properly manufactured BCG wouldn't need it. You can decide how important a staked carrier key is for you.

-The National Match chromed BCG is made slightly oversized so it's a tight fit. There have been reports of the bolts having issues cycling in billet uppers due to the tight tolerances involved in manufacturing a billet upper. I can't speak to those claims as my friend runs his in a forged upper without an issue.

-There are claims that due to the NM bolts being chromed and made slightly oversized, they tend to wear the uppers out faster. I've personally never seen documentation to prove this, but it's something you should consider researching before spending $220.

$220-230 seems to be the going rate for a YM NM chromed BCG.

ETA: Some old threads for you to read through -

The RRA ones are just as good. I think RRA still has them on sale for $130 for a complete BCG. Normally they are $190.

          This.

Save the extra money and put it towards as good trigger, or ammunition for practice.
