    Fab 10

I kind of got away from shooting for awhile so i haven't been on here for sometime.

I recently acquired a Fab 10 in a trade (or as my buddy calls it, a neutered AR-15). At first i thought it might be a fun little gun to play around with but i just haven't been able to warm up to it. There's just something not right about having to break open an AR 15 to load it.

I was thinking about selling it, buying an OLL and building a bullet button AR-15. So i'm looking at it and wondering, could i use the uppers on an OLL receiver?

No, I am no longer trading OLLs for FAB-10s.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

Yes, you can use your FAB10 upper on an OLL. They'll fit.

I bought a FAB10 not too long ago with the intention of building a .338LM bolt gun out of it. I plan on removing the magazine and filling the mag well with mercury tubes and epoxy to help tame some of the recoil. Can't think of a better lower to use for it.

You of all people would know this; can't you just Dremel out the bottom of a FAB-10 and use it with a bullet button?

Since the mag well was blocked and it had that white plastic tram where the mag follower would have fed, does it even have a hole/space for a magazine release button (since one would not have been needed)?

I merely looked at them some ten years ago when they came out (in disgust) but never saw the need for buying one; I had plenty of pre-Roberti-Roos and pre-SB23 ARs to suit.

So... what of it? Is the FAB-10 pretty much a standard AR receiver but with the blocked bottom?

                  .

No, the mag button isn't machined. Nor is the opposite machined for the mag catch. Also, I don't believe any of the FAB10's have the ears for installing the bolt catch. Here's some pics from the FAB10 website. You might be able to machine all that stuff, but it's really not worth it when you can pick up an OLL for $100 or less.

I pretty much agree but for less than the price of an AR-15 upper l also have a butt stock and a sling.
