    AR-15 9mm with Stan Mag.

    Did anybody build AR-15 9mm lower with Hahn Precision adaptor from Brownells for unmodified Stan magazines? I received the adaptor today and tried it on my Bushmaster lower. The Stan magazine wouldn't go all the way in to engage the magazine catch, but a few minutes with a dremmel took care of that. Stan mag has a lot of play ftont-to-back, and even more side-to-side. So my questions are:
    1. Will it function reliably like that with Oly upper? or;
    2. Will it need some modification? or;
    3. Would it not wobble that much with the upper/bolt installed?
    4. What mods need to be done to the lower/FCG, and if it would be at all possible to use the same lower for .223 and 9mm upper without replacing any small parts every time I'd like to swap uppers? This is a registered AW Bushmaster lower, and I have plenty Stan 32 rds pre-ban mags. Thank you all.

    I think you mean Sten mags, not "Stan".

    Not familar with the peculiarities of the Oly pistol caliber uppers. Sorry...

    I am familiar with the Colt/ RRA pistol caliber uppers though.

      What did you dremmel? there isn't supposed to be much play... it'll probably still work, but its odd that it would do that.

      what lower are you trying to use it in?

      I don't think the olympic upper requires you to switch out the hammer like the colt does.(dont quote me)

      Wether or not you have the upper installed it shouldn't have significant play.

        I saw an adapter that a guy was selling on both sturmgewehr.com and AR15.com. Maybe he makes a adapter for 9mm as well.

        This one uses greasegun mags of which I happen to own.

          I have identical adapter as pictured above. And my lower is Bushmaster. What I dremmeled was those little tabs on both sides of a mag that restrict mag from going in too far. It was probably like a millimeter or two. My ar mags sit tight in that mag well. Even my rommy AK has less mag play than that. I've red somewhere that the same FCG can be used for both calibers, I am more concerned about buffer/buffer spring. Thank you all for your replies.

            The Sten mag conversions have a little bit more play, but not a whole lot.

            1. It should function reliably as long as the magazine is held high enough. That's a problem inherent to the Sten conversions. They might be held about a half millimeter too short.

            2. Probably not; people have said good things about the Hahn. I had a SOCOM that was crap and a KKF which I'm satisfied with. It's a little wide though.

            3. Probably not.

            4. None, if you're using the Olympic system. I went with the Oly system as opposed to the Colt/RRA because there were no mods to the lower to switch uppers and because the mags were cheaper. It should fit on any standard .223 lower without any mods whatsoever.

              I love my STEN mag conversion for my 9mm. I shoot it more than my 223 versions.

              The posts above should have it covered. I would recomend the Hahn block as I have owned several and it sticks the least amount from the receiver and still works the best. They have a top loading feature that woun't allow you to drop it accidentally if you hit the normal mag release button.
