    Stainless vs Carbon steel?

I'm thinking about getting a Remington 700 in 308 Winchester. However, there are so many freaking options and I'm overwhelmed with all the choices. I'm thinking about 20" barrel, but in stainless or carbon steel? I know stainless is more "weather resistant" and doesn't rust but never really have any experience with carbon steel.

It's all steel "carbon steel"? The addition of carbon to iron is what makes steel.

For rifles, I prefer stainless steel barrels. Nothing wrong with chromoly steel, but it is a presonal preference.
