Beware CGN and their CAI talk...Very suspect. Your best bet as someone said is to go to an FAL site. Congrats.

My friend has an enterprise FAL style rifle(I think) and the maglock/bb on his prevents one from removing the bolt and adequately cleaning the gun. So how does one properly clean the gun without removing the maglock/bb and thus violating CA law? Is there a maglock/bb design that allows one to properly disassemble the firearm?
Well, as they say on dem interwebz, I'm not a lawyer. However I seem to recall that with the FAL it's a fairly simple thing to do this legally. Remember that with the FAL the upper is the registered firearm, not the lower like an AR. I can see where the mag log might get in the way of the normal pivoting motion you get when you pop the take-down lever but once you've started rotating the upper away from the lower it's really easy to take out the pivot pin. This separates the upper cleanly from the lower. At that moment the upper no longer has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine, so it falls out of the legal definition of an assault weapon from PC 12276.1(a). It's possible that since it's no longer attached to any kind of ammunition feeding device it might not even be considered a semi-automatic rifle anymore but that's just me speculating. Separate upper from lower and go clean to your heart's content. It's easier to clean properly when they're popped apart too.

Personally, I -love- my drunk-monkey-built FrankenFAL. It's got it's foibles but it's just so freakin' burly. Personally I'd say the money is right, ESPECIALLy if you can take it out for a little test shoot first to make sure it's not a hopeless jam-o-matic. The price you're talking about it somewhere in the vicinity of what I paid for mine, and that was at least three years ago. Seems like a good gamble to me, if I were in a position to act on it I'd probably buy it if you passed on the deal. It's just a fun gun!

Oh, and when ya get a chance, check and see if this rifle will take inch mags as well, they fit better in mine than the metrics.

I picked up a butthole L1A1cheap in Wisconsin a few years ago. It uses metric magazines. I took the execrable lower off and got a metric lower from Gun Parts Guy (who is no longer-I hear he took up farming).

I have a 'unibrow' receiver which is supposed to be a problem but my works great. Just be aware that changing ammo will require changing the gas setting. Wolf needs a much more open setting than NATO surplus.

IOW: I have a FrankenFAL that works great and has a good trigger for a pretty decent price.

              For $500 it's a steal...

              ...if it actually works.

Century's issue is that some guns work, others won't. No matter if it's an FAL or any other rifle they assemble.

This board is NOT the arfcom of FAL knowledge...get ye to the FAL files and catch up.

For $500 I'd buy it if it runs, and I'm already up to double-digit FAL's.
