I know the british SAS definitely uses the canadian Diemaco C8SFW which has a 16" barrel of a heavier profile than the C8A1, the C8SFW is designed to provide a fire support capability in carbine form.

The Tavor is manufactured for sending to India, which purchased alot of Tavors for equipping their army. The Tavor is not going to be a domestic weapon in any significant scale in Israel. The photos of IDF with the Tavor were primarily "photo ops" for advertising the Tavor to other countries who were possibly interested in purchasing it, so it looked good to show it with IDF soldiers. Mostly marketing.
I'm sure that there will be some Tavors floating around Israel, but the M16/M4 is their weapon of choice.
There were almost some deals going which could have brought the Tavor into the US for commercial sales. The reasons why it never went thru, was not because of red-tape. The gun wasn't as good as guns costing 1/3 the price, was the problem.
If you see it on Future Weapons, you can pretty much bet it's advertising paid-for in full. I already know of several gun makers who've lined up deals to get their guns "advertised" on Future Weapons. HK was just the first one. If Future Weapons is where you learn about guns, I'd suggest changing the channel.Last edited by twl; 06-08-2007, 7:40 AM.MGI Factory Sales

Why was the galil scrapped? cost to make? I thought it was a reliable system. Could it be political? As to buy our arms so we would support them when they are at war?
That is interesting, I didn't know india is using the tavor now. That is absolutely true how could a new rifle -tavor faze out the m16 m4 so fast. I was thinking over time the israelis would develop their own designs as seen in the tavor. Just like the chinese they were still using the AKs but were designing their own arms until the AKs were put into limited use. I was thinking the tavor was actually cheaper because of the plastic. Just by the recycling value of aluminum vs plastic. I guess their molding process is using too much electricity. Or they must sell more to pay for the cost of production first. Or they are over pricing them for india?
A usa made or imported tavor...I bet those would sell well. Still bullpups are not as popular as they used to be. type95, sa80, and aug(ausies will still be using?) all fazed or fazing out? only the fn2000 and the tavor are the ones that come to mind when I think current bullpup. The only thing I don't like about a bullpup is when you see a rifle kaboom- on a bullpup a mans face is right next to the rifle.
Future weapons is the only live footage I have seen of the tavor. Yes, future weapons is kinda lame after a while but they do show live footage is what I like. Looked good. I'm sure the israelis have a lot of good designs unreleased. I must say their stuff looks the most futuristic. The mark 4 tank looks awesome. The funny thing about the tank is if you look at the turret it looks like the "millenium falcon" from star wars.
I must say the hk 416 is nice. The main thing that I like about it is not just because of the piston drive or the quick change system(can't get the longer barrels) but of the design of the handguard and sight. It just looks alot more sleek and more expensive just by the look compared to colts le1020, pof, or bushmasters. The germans not only have great engineers they have talented art designers.
The sas c8sfw looks very similar to our m4. It would be nice to have a sas sfw clone. But it does looks front end heavy for no purpose just to be different from our m4 design.2024 New Year?s resolution will be no posting..Comment

The C7 and C8 are built by Diemaco, which is owned by Colt, and now called Colt Canada.
That's why they are so similar to the M16 and M4.MGI Factory Sales
