Breaking in a barrel is one of those things that some people swear by and others swear against. The most compelling comment I ever read was from a custom barrel maker who says that anyone who tells you to break in a barrel is only trying to sell you another barrel sooner.

i fugured that i wouldshoot a few rounds through it and then bore snake it and just keep doing that.. shoot 5 then snake it, shoot 8 more then snake it, just keep progressing i guess....

Shoot a crap load of ammo through it, don't let it get too hot to hold. Done.

Clean the rifle before you take it out for the first time... Shoot the hell out of it, take it home and clean it... rinse repeat. If you are a competetive shooter with millions of dollars in prize money on the line, then I can see going ape crazy over cleaning... I know guys who have bought ARs, slap them right on a lower out of the box and shoot it, not clean it for 1-2000 rounds and they still work fine, accuracy isnt noticebly different. but to each their own, I wouldnt recommend that, at the same time, i wouldnt try and worry you about overly cleaning your weapon and properly breaking in the barrel, just make sure its clean and enjoy the rifle...

                Is it chrome lined?

If yes, don't worry about it.

If no, don't over heat it too much.

You can do more damage to barrel cleaning it than shooting it.

^This... But really if its chrome lined then dont worry, couldn't hurt to so the cleaning cycle type break ins but I dont see what that really does (im SURE someone will chime in and school us both) but i dont think it can do much, as for my 2 ARs ive shot about 1000 and 3700rds though em, never broke em in and have had 0 problems (maybe im lucky )

Here's how you break in a barrel on any kind of rifle.
