    vz 58 sporter/tactical?

    Hey all:

I'm intrigued by this AK-inspired rifle design originally out of the former Czechoslovakia. It seems that it's promise and potential are under-utilized or under-appreciated in this forum (or have I totally forgotten how to use the search function here?). Anyhow, are there any owners of the vz58? If so, what are your impressions, good or bad? Please share!

I'm your Huckleberry...j/k. I bought one about a year ago, haven't shoot it yet but I can honestly say it seems better constructed than any Kalashnikov I've seen. I've heard only good things about it so far, but I'll let you know how it performs after the Shoot & Q.

Ok, after 24+ views, only 1forall responds? Is there only 1 owner (and even that is questionable since he hasn't shot his yet)?

Are there more owners of the Lancaster Arms and Henderson Defense AK's than there are vz 58's?

I'd get one, but I don't have any hi-caps for it, plus the magazines it takes are separate from AK ones.
Other than that, I'd say that the VZ-58 is an awesomely sexy AK variant

Now THAT is a kick *** vz! I hate to admit this but the thing actually looks better with a 10-round mag. More balanced, aesthetically, anyways.

It appears that SA vz. 58 is discontinued but that CZ-USA is offering the model in the version you have and the standard, wood-impregnated stock. Are these in fact the exact same thing, or are the SA versions (presumably, the mothership varieties) "real" in the sense that they are 100% Czech made (and not a good parts build)?

Yeah, I know it's not an AK. I was made aware of that a while back, actually.

              Thanks for the links!

I have one, and I've shot it. It's fairly accurate, but I'll need some kind of optic to bring out it's best. The only problem I have with it is that the Length of Pull is a bit too short for me. Czechpoint is probably your best bet for guns and accessories, I believe they supplied CZ-USA. The Century guns I've heard are cobbled together.

Here's mine. It started life as a military classic. It's soft shooting. reliable and fairly accurate with Russian ammo:

Very clean looking. What are the optics?

                        It's a primary arms micro-dot.

I love love love love mine!!! I'll get some pics up for you here...

I put on the Troy Industries battlerail. It heats up a lot faster than a wood or plastic stock, but is very functional, and with gloves is tolerable. It also helps to keep in mind how hot the barrel is truly getting. Mine shoots minute of milk jug at about 150-200 yards.

By the way, is your vz comfortable to shoot? It seems like there might be some sharp edges behind the grip area (before the stock).
