Haha, ok then, same concerns for the 16x, mainly will it be WAY too much mag. close in? Im not really interested in a 20x for this rifle at this time, and want more than a 3-9x since I have one on a .223 and wish I had gone a little bigger with that one....

PS, thanks for the help guys.

I can talk to the Vortex Viper.....great scope, tracks great and has very good glass. Zero resets are quick and easy. Lifetime waranty.

Millet (owned 2-3)...I'd step up to the Viper above....don't get me wrong, for the dough they are "ok"....but, you'll be looking to replace not too long after.

The other scope lots seem to say is a very good deal and good glass, Bushnell Elite 6500.

A one piece 20 MOA base (check EGW) and you're set....good luck

MIL/MIL means the scope has a MIL reticle (crosshairs with hashmarks measured in MIL intervals) with MIL turrets.

A lot of scopes are MIL reticle (ie. Mil-Dot) with turrets that adjust in MOA clicks. Sorta requires some math to convert what you see in the scope to what you need to adjust on your turrets.

Having matching reticle and turrets just simplifies things quite a bit. If you see a poof of dirt 1.2 MIL to the left, turn your windage 1.2 MIL to the right.

Another thing about the SWFA SS line...150moa internal elevation. No 20moa base needed.
            I'd get the 10x over their (more expensive) 3x9. That's just me, I've got the 20x....('cause they don't make a 30x!)

I didnt see it listed, but the Bushnell 3200 Elite 5-15x40 w/ target Knobs and mil-dot reticle is just shy of $400 and very nice.

Ok, so I ended up getting a SWFA Super Sniper, SWFA Rings (nicer than I thought they would be), EGW 20MOA base, abd then a mil-dot master.

Thanks everyone, I joined up over on CAPRC even though I live in AZ as well.....

I just put together a 700 using TPS rings and 20 MOA base with the Bushnell Elite 3200 Tactical. I don't have a range report yet but hope to soon.

Extremely well made in Japan, tracks beautifully and holds zero even when I toss it on my 458 Socom. Also, being a second focal plane scope...the power ring happens to be marked where the mildots are accurate...and that is at it's max power of 15X
I have that scop in a higher power. Its a nice piece!

Great choice! I just bought a Remington 700 Police recently. Swapped on a Nightforce 3.5-15x50 and now my AICS 2.0 is on the way can't wait!
