    Fixed mag question

Hypothetically one has a bullet button'ed rifle with a sling on it, attached to this sling he attaches a bullet button actuation tool. Is said hypothetical man in violation of the law?

    Thank you for any input.

Depends on which LEO decides to bother you that day.

    Best not to risk it.

Hypothetically he might be giving a hypothetically-hyper-concerned LEO an opportunity to ask Questions.

Questions can, hypothetically, lead to Actions which might lead to Repercussions. That would be Bad.

Hypothetically, it's better to keep such a tool in a pocket, thus avoiding Questions.

I think the undertsanding is, the tool cannot be attached to the weapon and still usable. For instance, you can not have a bullet with a chain hanging from your carry handle for easy tool accessability. The ultimate bullet button tool, on the other hand is ok, because when it is attached to the weapon (mag in the well) it is not able to function as a tool.

This is how I am to understand the law, and how it has been explained to me by a few Leos I have ran into and other calgunners.

I personally would NOT risk attaching a tool to a sling that is attached to the rifle. The closest I would go to what you are saying is hanging a tool on a chain around my neck, not attached to the weapon. But I do the UBBT method
        Hmm...
