Almost have enough saved, now a saiga question.

I'm almost to the point of saved pennies = new gun. I am still undecided but am leaning more towards an ak platform, since AR-10 is out of my price range right now.

I have read up on a lot of the AK threads here. From what I understand if i want one complete get a WASR, if I want one to convert get a Saiga.

    Question #1
I have been looking around on the dinzag website. Basically after I'm done converting I will have a gun that costs the same as the WASR or more?

    Question #2
Other than the fact Saiga is made by the same manu as the real AK, is there any other reasons to get that over the WASR?

    Question #3
Is there a trigger group you can drop in to the Saiga to make it break cleaner and perform better and keep it sporterized? (I like the non BB and non MMgrip aspect).

p.s. never knew there were so many options when shopping for one of these.

Q1: Yes they will be about the same cost but the Saiga quality is much better.

Q2: Saiga is made from higher quality parts by a manu that has been building them from day 1.

Q3: not that I know of but I'd LOVE to find a better FCG.

I'm keeping mine in the Sporter stock. There is no reason besides looks to convert IMO. Drops mags tool free and use my 30rd mags? HELL YEAH!

Tapco and Redstar both make triggers that are supposed to be better than stock.

The dinzag website has a new fcg for a factory saiga made by tapco, at least for the standard 7.62x39 cal version.
The capitalist economic model is fundamentally flawed. It is not self sustaining, and can only maintain itself with constant growth. Obviously infinite growth is impossible, so the question is not whether the economy will collapse, but when.

Get your guns, ammo, and food while the stores still stock them. Prepare yourself now, because when the meltdown comes it will be too late.

Do you know if the Tapco one is any better than the factory? If your goal is to reach enough 922r parts that would be helpful but I'd be interested if it improved the trigger feel. The OEM parts feel and look solid enough, its just that extra linkage that makes it feel mushy.

I installed Dinzags FCG on my unconverted Saiga 7.62x39, mostly for 922r compliance.
It was a major improvement! Almost too light a pull, but all of that "squishy" feeling in the trigger is gone. Just make sure you order the one for the stock Saiga from Dinzag. It is a modified Tapco G2, by the way.

sweet!!! Thats what I wanted to hear.

So from what I understand the G2 counts as 2 922r, from the chart/wiki a bullet guide does not count?

                But the magazines do count?

If I wanted to keep it sporterized with the g2 I would need 2 other compliance parts. What other parts would be the best upgrades?

Are there any US made buttstocks that will fit the sporterized config? Maybe an 870?

The trigger sucks in the stock configuration. I don't care what you do to clean it up,it blow goats.
I'l let you try the trigger on one of my conversions and you'll crap yorself over the difference. Night and day.

I actually wish to just try out your MMG ak from the other thread I posted on. I am just so scared I will hate the MMG. But if I never shoot a converted AK I will never know the difference in trigger Ignorance might very well be bliss in this case.

For extra compliance parts I installed a Tapco Galil style handguard and either use completley US made mags or my old preban steel mags with Tapco followers. I know mags are not ideal for compliance, I will probably put in a US gas piston eventually to be extra safe. I know the trigger is not quite as good as the original AK, but as an all-around reliable clunker carbine with legal hi-cap capabilities, it's been great.

Get a WASR and join AK Files and a bunch of other AK forums. Accuracy from Saiga and WASR are not far from each other at all. However one is complete and one is a modified...Saiga.

The FUD you hear about WASRs is sooo blown out of proportion.
